Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small community which is situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. People unfamiliar with the term frequently think that it's a isolated island to the west of Montreal although in actual fact, there is a lot more to it. West Island is home to every aspect of the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. Her first ambition was to dance but the rapid growth of her body led to she literally outgrew her dance partners. In an article in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. After I reached the point of outgrowing male dance partners, I quit. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement of one of her drama teachers from high school which inspired her to pursue acting. Her teacher advised her to participate in her school's production. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the school's annual show. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. For the last twenty years her career has seen her in more than 60 movies and TV productions. The role she was most famous for was that of Rita (shown beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian participant during Season 1 of the series. She was rarely seen.
