Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighbourhood located in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" place. People who aren't familiar with they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. This is not true. Brugel lived in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal was to become performing, but she was able to outgrow her dance partners. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 feet 1 inch tall. When I grew out of male companions, I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting, and Brugel was not an exception. The drama instructor at her high school helped push her in her direction that she required. The teacher suggested that she go after a role in the annual school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the lead of Anne of Green Gables. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the 20+ years since Brugel has landed roles in over 60 plays on both screens, receiving the most media attention, when she landed the role of Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the only Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show and was only seen on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
